Cordea Savills, the international property investment manager, has appointed Malcolm Naish as Chairman of the Advisory Committee for its Charities Property Fund (the ‘Fund’).

The eight-strong Committee’s role is to review the investment policies pursued by the Fund; to act as a voice for unit holders; and to engage in constructive discussions with the Fund’s management team. Malcolm’s appointment follows the retirement of Ian Flanagan who has made a significant contribution to the Committee and the Fund over his 14 year tenure as chairman.

A veteran of the property industry, Malcolm currently holds a variety of directorships and non-executive positions. He is a former Director of Real Estate at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and a Director/CEO of DTZ Investment Management. He was Co-founder, Director and Shareholder at Fountain Capital Partners and Partner/International Director at Jones Lang Wootton/Jones Lang LaSalle.

He was Chairman of the Scottish Property Federation in 2010/11 and a member of the policy board of the British Property Federation from 2008 to 2012.

Commenting on the new appointment, Harry de Ferry Foster, Manager of the Fund, said: “Malcolm has an outstanding track record in the property industry. His expertise and experience will be invaluable to both the Committee and management team of the Fund. We are delighted to have him as our Chairman.”

Malcolm Naish commented: “The Charities Property Fund is a stand-out performer among its peers. It has delivered great performance consistently because of the high quality of its portfolio and pro-active asset management. I look forward to working with such a strong team.”

The Charities Property Fund delivered an average total return of 10.8% per annum in the five years to end-June 2014 compared to 9.1% for the AREF All Balanced Funds Index, and has outperformed the Index in each of these years. Assets under management grew by over 380% from £190 million to £735 million over the same period.
