Savills IM managed ftse 100 pension fund named best performing £350m+ segregated pension fund

Savills IM has been awarded the best performing Segregated Pension Fund (above £350 million, December 2016) in the MSCI (IPD) Universe for its Core FTSE 100 Pension Fund. The Fund, managed on a discretionary basis for over 25 years, now has AuM of over £480m and consists of 24 assets spread across multiple sectors including retail, office and industrial.

The award recognises the highest three-year return performance based on fund type and size, and top risk adjusted returns to December 2016. The Fund has achieved the highest balanced total return relative to the IPD benchmark annualised over 3 years, delivering an ungeared total return of 14.25% pa.

The Core Fund is relatively mature and so promotes a strategy which focuses on the medium to long term to deliver above average returns. The outperformance recognised by this award is in part due to the Fund Team’s pursuance of a higher risk strategy with up to 20% of the portfolio invested in direct development. Stock selection is also key with an overweight stance to the Industrial sector helping to drive a good degree of the Fund’s super performance in recent years.
